James V. Brown Library Case Study
James V. Brown LibraryWilliamsport, PA, Larson Design Group
Imagine a library that stimulates learning among all age groups, a destination spot that provokes excitement, and a place where learning can be fun. With furnishings from the Brodart Collection, that dream became a reality with 3-D decor and modern hangout spots.
Incorporating the Pennsylvania's Amazing Wilds theme, Brodart Collection played an integral role in enhancing the library's ability to deliver a comprehensive learning experience. The children's wing was organized to make it easy for families to locate age-appropriate material. Each section is represented by a different animal and color. This portion of the facility was especially created to appeal to a younger audience, providing a magical atmosphere with three-dimensional sculptures of animals breezing through the sky and children sized furniture.
The new facility is equally welcoming to tweens and teens on its second floor. Artwork, signage, and furniture were carefully designed with a contemporary color scheme and modern style to appeal to a more mature audience. In keeping with the theme, the floor includes a Grid System, which features an artistic rendition of various types of frogs and other similar animals.
