Mansfield University Library Case Study
Mansfield University LibraryMansfield, PA, W.G. Eckles Architects
Know your roots. Mansfield University transformed this 19th century dormitory into a modern library, while preserving the rich styling and historical value of the architecture. The shining piece is a custom Maxim circulation desk, crafted for extreme durability and timeless design. Fluted yellow birch hardwoods and cherry veneers continue a classy, warm color scheme.
The custom furniture reflects the architectural heritage of this six-story building. The arched end panels on all tables, carrels and lounge chairs echo the Victorian arches of the building. The panels feature fluted yellow birch hardwoods and cherry veneers. The Maxim circulation desk’s custom front panels reflect the design elements found in the other furniture pieces. Inside surfaces of the study carrel panels are lined with durable metal, raised in a decorative pattern and finished with a textured powder coating. This provides maximum protection from ink and scratches while creating an attractive design element.
